1984 Ford Club Wagon
1984 Ford Club Wagon. ~150,000
miles. Eagle Liftgate. Two captains chairs and two bench seats with new
upholstery all around. AM/FM Stereo. Interior is in great shape. Paint is
still pretty good. This has been a chase vehicle for most of its life. It
starts OK (pedal needs one pump and hold it till it turns over), and runs and drives just fine. Wheels probably need to be
balanced since it's been just a tiny bit shaky at highway speeds lately.
The front and rear brakes have both
been recently overhauled within the last 5,000 miles or so. The rear
brakes got new drums, pads, lines and cylinders. The front brakes got a
new set of rotors/hubs and pads. The tires are pretty recent too, but I
can't say how much tread is currently on them. There's a spare in the back
cargo compartment. The van has a 2" hitch receiver and 7-point
trailer wiring harness. It's got antennas/mounts and wiring already
installed so you can plug your radio right in and go.
I've used this for my Aerostar 105
system with great results. The basket (Classic Limited) rode on the
liftgate, and the fan, envelope and burners fit in the rear cargo area
with enough room left over for an envelope squeezer and the spare tire. A
FireFly s5.0 basket also fits on the gate with a couple inches to spare.
Problems: Will need a new exhaust
from the catalytic converter back to pass NJ inspection. Also, it's been smoking
a little bit of coolant from the engine compartment recently, so that may mean it
needs a new head gasket (or perhaps a more serious problem?).
Air conditioning doesn't work. May
need a new compressor or just a recharge. I've been the sadistic pilot who
never bothered to look to get it fixed. My crew loves me.
I don't have time to look at or get this van
running right - I just have it parked in the back lot and I'll probably
toss it up for grabs on eBay if no balloonists are interested. I figured
I'd give you guys first shot at it since it's a great chase vehicle but
just needs some mechanical work to get back into good running shape. More
photos available on special request - I'll have to borrow a camera.
Buy this chase vehicle for the price
of the liftgate! Still available as of 4/14/05.
